Winston Heights-Mountview is a low-density residential community located along the west escarpment of the Nose Creek Valley. Winston Heights-Mountview has good access to the downtown, via Edmonton Trail. Most of this area was built in the 1950s around an existing core of older war-time homes. Winston Heights-Mountview residents enjoy close proximity to Nose Creek Park, The Winston Golf Club and the pathway system.
There is a lot of urban renewal in the area with a mixture of housing. There is also a beautiful community garden - this is from their website: Each of our gardeners rents one of our 4 x 8-foot organic beds in which they can grow and tend their choice of edible vegetables and flowers. We are a chemical-free garden so the beds have only ever been fertilized with natural products and compost. We also have a few smaller, more accessible beds for folks with physical limitations. Our garden is always open to visitors and we encourage everyone to come and see its many unique features. We have a large Saskatoon patch, fruit trees, and a Little Free Library. There are seating areas, an accessible pathway and bee and butterfly houses to attract pollinators.
While the produce grown in the individual beds belongs to the gardener who planted and tended to it, we do have assigned tasting and sharing beds where our guests can try whatever is in season. And guests are always welcome to harvest some of our gargantuan rhubarb or snip some herbs from the herb spiral. The tarragon does tend to take off if it’s not clipped often. Some of our flowering plants in the garden were transplanted from Midfield Mobile Home Park before it closed, so we also have a living connection to our neighbourhood history.
The Indigenous medicinal bed also connects us to our prairie roots. As you can imagine, it takes a village to maintain our garden. Each of our gardeners makes a commitment of 6 hours of service when they register to rent their bed. Throughout the summer, we work in teams to keep the perimeter plantings and structures looking their best. We also have several community members who don’t rent beds, but who like to get their hands dirty. The time and enthusiasm that they contribute to the garden is invaluable to us. We call them Friends of the Garden. Anyone can join this group of volunteers simply by sending us an email.
There is a new development coming soon to the area by the City of Calgary too! Tune in for more info.

A real estate agent will guide you through the process of buying a house, which is likely to be the most expensive financial transaction you will ever make. You want to work with someone who has the right knowledge and experience to suit your needs.
If you’re interested in downsizing, you will have needs that are different than those of buyers looking for a home for a growing family. You may want to work with an agent who has represented other buyers who wanted to downsize. An agent with that experience may be able to help you figure out what is truly important to you and provide useful insights based on the experiences of other clients who have downsized.
Interview at least a few real estate agents before you make a decision. Speaking with agents one-on-one will give you an opportunity to explain your goals, preferences and budget and to learn more about each individual’s approach and personality. Request references from recent customers and contact them to inquire about their experiences and opinions. That will help you figure out which agent will be the best match for you.

Saturday May 01, 2021
Saturday May 01, 2021
Today we are in Beautiful Bowness Park. This park is a four season playground both for those who live in the Community and all Calgarians.
The park was originally developed as a "weekend" retreat for nearby Calgarians. The park has much to offer and as a bonus is located along the Bow River and has a lovely lagoon for summer boating and winter skating.

East Village in Calgary, Alberta, Canada - you will Love the Vibe
Saturday Apr 24, 2021
Saturday Apr 24, 2021
Looking for a trendy neighborhood in Calgary that's walkable and modern? You have arrived at the East Village!
Spanning 49 acres between Fort Calgary and the downtown business core, East Village’s central location along the banks of the Bow River makes it a highly desirable piece of real estate. It’s hardly surprising that East Village was where downtown Calgary first began – the site where our city was founded.
Fast forward to today. East Village is in the midst of an exciting transformation. Since 2007, CMLC’s commitment of $396 million into infrastructure and development programs has so far attracted nearly $3 billion of planned development. As developers and retailers have come to see the value of the East Village transformation, our available inventory of land has been snapped up.

How do you decide who to hire to represent your Real Estate needs? Do you look for billboards and bus benches? Do you ask your friends and family for referrals? Or do you simply click on who looks good?
Diane discusses that regardless of how you find a Realtor to help you buy or sell a home, make sure you ask them these three questions.

About the park
Nose Hill Natural Environment Park lies in the northwest part of the city, surrounded by 12 residential communities. The park was created in 1980 and covers over 11 square kilometers. The hill most likely gets its name from the fact that, from certain locations and with a little imagination, it looks like a nose. Experience nature in the city Take a hike on the hill, but slow down to appreciate the Rough Fescue grassland that you are passing through. Nose Hill Park contains one of the most significant examples of this grassland ecosystem left on the Canadian prairies. From the plateau, there are vistas including the Rocky Mountains, Bow River Valley and the vast plains to the east. Plant life The trees, shrubs and wildflowers in the coulees are very different from the species found in the fescue grassland. Apart from the native grasses, one of the dominant species in the park is the Trembling Aspen. The aspen, along with the willows occupy the north-facing slopes of the coulees and provide a refuge for many of the wild animals living in the park. Wildlife Large mammals such as deer and coyotes can be seen roaming the grasslands and coulees. The park is home to porcupines, northern pocket gophers, Richardson's ground squirrels and several species of mice and voles. These smaller mammals are the main prey for the northern harriers and Swainson's hawks, which are often seen in the skies above the park. Please note: Coyotes are generally not a threat to people but should be treated with respect. Never approach or feed a coyote. For more information, or to report sightings/encounters, visit calgary.ca/coyotes. History Nose Hill and Broadcast Hill, which lies on the other side of the Bow River Valley, are the two remaining examples of the high plains which once covered this area. Ancient rivers, successive glaciers and their run-off have eroded the landscape producing the surrounding valleys and lowlands, leaving the two hills towering over the area. The most recent glaciers left their mark in the form of "glacial erratics" which consist of rocks and debris carried from other places and deposited in the park. One such erratic is on the east side of Nose Hill and was once a part of Mount Edith Cavell in Jasper National Park. The park contains significant archaeological sites, including stone circles. These were formed by using stones to hold down the edges of tipis and are called "tipi rings". Because of its height, the hill was also a sacred place used for ceremonies and burials. European settlers began using the area in the late 1800s for farming and ranching. Large areas of the plateau have been ploughed and planted to agricultural crops. Some of these areas are being returned to native grassland. There is an old gravel pit on the plateau which is slowly being reclaimed by nature. In the '80s, much of the park was destined for residential development. However, vigorous citizen action saved the land for the magnificent park we have today.
