Welcome to There’s No Place Like Home with REALTOR® and storyteller Diane Planidin.
Each week, we explore what “home” really means — from the vibrant neighbourhoods, parks, and family communities of Calgary, Alberta, and beyond, to the peaceful mountain lifestyle of Invermere on the Lake and the Columbia Valley in British Columbia. Whether you’re relocating, rightsizing as an empty nester, buying your first home, or investing in a second home or luxury property, I help you navigate the journey with clarity, compassion, and lived experience.
Did you know… many of my clients don’t live in just one place?
Some ski in the winter, golf in the summer, reconnect with family in the Rockies, or simply enjoy the peace of the Columbia Valley and the momentum of Calgary. I support the way people actually live — not the boxes they’re expected to fit into. I do full-time lifestyle.
Sometimes I’ll share moments from my own journey of creating home — cooking for people I love, refreshing spaces so they feel calm and beautiful, tending to a garden, or helping a client see possibility in a room they had given up on. These aren’t projects; they’re reminders that home is the place where relationships flourish and a life takes root.
We’ll also welcome guests who bring real perspective — voices from Canadian economics, philanthropy, community culture, real estate development, and wealth planning. These conversations look at how interest rates, migration, investment trends, tourism, and intergenerational wealth shape where we live, how we age, and how we choose a home that supports the life we want. You’ll hear from entrepreneurs, economists, designers, builders, and community leaders who influence the future of Calgary and the Columbia Valley.
For more than 15 years, I’ve walked alongside clients through meaningful transitions: empty nesters seeking freedom, seniors downsizing, families returning to the Rockies, and newcomers building a life in Canada. Real estate isn’t just square footage — it’s identity, legacy, and peace of mind.
Expect heartfelt conversations, gentle encouragement, market insights, design inspiration, and the truth about what it takes to flourish in today’s Canadian real estate market — starting from Calgary and flowing into the places where life slows down, like Invermere and the Columbia Valley.
Because - There’s no Place Like Home.© And the right one can change your life.

2021 Calgary Real Estate - Forecast
Saturday Jan 30, 2021
Saturday Jan 30, 2021
In 2020 housing markets across the country surprised many with a stonier-than-expected rebound in the second half of the year despite record-high unemployment rates and significant job losses.
Diane provides a summary of the Calgary Real Estate Board Forecast by their chief economist, Anne-Marie Lurie along with her own take on the market, that being in the action with Real Estate.
Today you will hear the predictions of:
- what is expected in 2021 for Calgary and Area Real Estate
- why the outlook could change
- how the price of a property varies based on what area of the City you live
As always, please keep in mind that this is a "forecast" based on what the experts are predicting. As we all know, life can make swift changes, be ready and be prepared as we all continue with living in a new "normal."
A forecast is not financial advice nor does it provide any guarantees. Discuss your needs with professionals and use a Realtor that knows how to help you obtain what you need.

Welcome to Calgary! In this weeks episode Diane spotlights the community of Inglewood where the first settlers made Calgary their home.
The community of Inglewood in Calgary, Alberta is quite unique. Located along the Bow River, Inglewood has so much to offer. From the extensive pathways to the community gardens. Inglewood is the oldest community in Calgary with Ninth Avenue as its longest heritage main street. It is a destination enjoyed by Calgarians and visitors year-round for its village feel, quirky shops and great music venues and was named Best Community in Canada in 2014 by the Canadian Institute of Planners.

Welcome to Calgary Living where we discuss Calgary lifestyle, community and homes. If you are new to the City, welcome. Calgary is friendly, sunny and has the best backyard - that being the Rocky Mountains. Take a picture, they seem to change daily. I'm Diane Planidin, your local Realtor with Royal LePage Benchmark. One of the things you will notice about Calgary is the glimmer of art and culture that surrounds it. The Vibe is on point - probably due to the young people that call it home. The average age in Calgary remains under 40 - so you will need to keep up.
It’s easy to get around Calgary and you will notice it has many walkable communities. The Inner City is full of culture and sweet neighbourhoods. Most people are surprised when they get here. That’s why we call it cowtown, keeping it a bit exclusive for ourselves.
Living in Calgary is like living in a Snow Globe. We have these fantastic Chinook winds that create an arch over the City and give our Winters a warmth you won’t find anywhere else. Calgary is the 5th most liveable City in North America and we have over 120 different languages spoken here. The Diversity is what makes Calgary full of Culture and what makes it unique. Which brings me to the Culinary scene.
We Calgarians take our food very seriously. Some of the Top Chef’s in the country are here and because of the diversity, we can dine on foods from around the world. From French to Brazillian, Vietnamese to 5 Star Cuisine. We love our Diners and Dim Sum. There is a thriving industry with an abundance of craft brewers and local distillers, Coffee Roasters and Farmer’s Markets. We love local.
The fun thing about Calgary is how connected the entire City is through pathways, over 1000 km of riding. Plenty of parks, fishing and something for everyone. Even a ski hill. Some people think we are land locked but they would be wrong. One of the reasons Calgary is located where it is, is due to the abundant water that flows through the City. You can Surf, Sail and when the conditions are right, float down the river on a hot summers day. Where else are you going to find a major metropolitan City with these stunning natural surroundings?
Calgarians are also creatures of habit. We tend to live in a certain quadrant to set up our nest. The City is designed with areas specific to North, East, South and West. During this show we will discuss different communities and hear from Calgarians of all ages, what makes this city a great place to live. We will also provide tips on purchasing a property here, whether you’re a first time home buyer or have a Million Dollar Listing, there is something for everyone.
I was born in Calgary and have moved around the country and even to other countries, but no matter where I roam, Canada is my home and I’m excited to share my hometown of Calgary with you. Welcome,
